About Us

School History

Established in 1994, the Halpin School of Irish Dance is situated in the city of Stuttgart, Baden Württemburg, in South West Germany.

The School is registered with CLRG (the commission of Irish Dancing), the largest governing body of Irish Dancing Worldwide based in Dublin, Ireland. CLRG sets the highest standards for dancers, teachers and adjudicators.

Its founder, Áine Halpin (TCRG) is a fully qualified Irish Dancing teacher with CLRG, one of the first in Germany and the first qualified teacher in Baden-Württemberg.

The school holds classes for all age groups from 5 years. All dancers have the opportunity to take part in competitions, ceilis, workshops and show performances. HSID dancers compete at feiseanna organised by CLRG/RCCEA throughout Mainland Europe. Of course, many dancers simply enjoy learning Irish Dance for its own sake. The school promotes both competitive and non-competitive dancers.

Halpin School Show Group “Fainne” is also available for events such as corporate, weddings, festivals and Theatre performances.

Áine’s classes and methods of teaching are popular both with young and old. Classes are lively and energetic. Here “learning by doing” and having fun is our motto while at the same time strong emphasis is placed on developing proper technique and encouraging our students to work hard and appreciate this wonderful art form.
