The word Fáinne means ring in Gaelic. The ring is a symbol of continuity in Celtic culture, having no beginning and no end. As such, it is an appropriate name for an Irish dance group, both to represent the continuity of the Irish dance form, and also the elaborate interconnecting rings of Irish group dance choreography.

Áine Halpin founded Fáinne in 1996 primarily as an outlet for her more advanced students to get an opportunity to perform the dances that they had perfected over the previous years. From somewhat humble beginnings, the group has grown in both members and reputation, and is now in high demand for concerts, theatre, cultural events and parties. If you want to add an element of the unusual to a company party or a private celebration, Fáinne will provide you and your colleagues and friends with an event to remember.
